During our retreat weekend, we will learn how to make Thrummed Mittens! A new pattern designed by COCO's owner, Lisa! Larded mittens (or thrummed mittens) originate in the Newfoundland and Labrador region. It is said that sailors who went to sea carried this type of mitts in which small pieces of fibre were inserted. The fabric is lined with twisted bits of unspun fleece wool, which are then knitted into the fabric. When used for extended periods of time, the fleece inside feels as though it is insulated by an insulation layer.

What's included: 3 caked hanks of Briggs and Little Heritage 2 ply wool & 100g of fleece (natural or coloured).  Colours of fleece will mirror similar to COCO's Bergy Blue & Bakeapple Jam! Available soon!

Knitter's will have the opportunity to choose their three colours 2 WEEKS before the retreat. The pattern will feature COCO's signature colourways 'Bakeapple Jam & Bergy Blue' along with Bleached White. Fleece colour options will also be available - MORE TO FOLLOW, be patient as I work with my dyers!

Knitters should have some experience knitting on DPN's.  

When:
Friday September 15th, 5:00pm: Knitters will meet in Triton, NL for supper at Fudge's Restaurant in a private reserved room with ocean views.
Saturday September 16, 10:00am-7:00pm: Knitters will reconvene at Fudge's Restaurant for more knitting & learning.
Sunday September 17, 10:00am -1:00pm: Knitters will reconvene at Fudge's Restaurant to conclude our weekend retreat with a lunch
**While meals are not included in the cost of the retreat, Knitters are invited to choose their own meals off the menu that offers a large variety to satisfy everyone's palette**
For visitor's outside the Green Bay South area, COCO highly recommends the Parkers Bluewater Inn situated in Triton, NL.
